Enrich Your Pins (Pinterest for Businesses)

Pinterest upped its commercial game this May, introducing Rich Pins —enhanced pins that include specific details and direct links to related websites. Your internet audience loves immediacy and convenience. It’s one thing to show them your great idea; but it is another thing entirely to provide them with a quick and convenient path to attainment. After some updates to your website and approval from Pinterest, you can add some serious weight to your pins.

Rich pins are available in three categories: products, recipes, and movies. How can this help you? Here are the details about each of the current options:

Product Pins

A rich pin automatically displays the price of the item and a direct link to where it can be purchased—big box store, Etsy, wherever. We like the immediacy factor here. You’re much more likely to close the sale when a lot of tedious middle steps are removed.

Added bonus: Depending on how your site is configured, a rich pin may also simultaneously display additional rich pins that link to your site.

Recipe Pins

An enhanced recipe pin automatically displays ingredients, cook times, and servings. We like the share-ability and interactive factor for those in the food industry—restauranteurs, specialty markets, foodie writers.

Movie Pins

Currently limited to images shared from Netflix, Flixster, and Rotten Tomatoes, these movie pins display reviews, ratings, directors, and cast members. In some cases, a pin may also provide a link to a streaming service, enabling a user to start watching the movie right away. We like the expertise appeal for those catering to film buffs and entertainment junkies.

Regardless of your industry or your aim, plumped up pins can modernize and maximize an old fashioned marketing technique called Word of Mouth. Encourage users to share images from your website. We can add a “Pin It” button to your product pages. We can also include Follow buttons and Pin widgets to retain an audience and highlight recent pins. You might even consider running a contest that requires users to share pins. (But be sure to understand Pinterest’s guidelines for contests first.)

This new pinterest for businesses functionality is still in its early stages, but looks promising. We anticipate cool expansions and developments in all three categories as well some added industries.
