Over the past few years, Google has rolled out algorithm updates that have systematically devalued inbound links to the point where most don’t count for anything at all (or in some cases, may actually count against you!).
So why is it Google suddenly dislikes your friends and doesn’t want them linking to your website?
The issue isn’t that Google dislikes links – it’s that it doesn’t like irrelevant and low-quality links. There are just too many websites out there without any real value, and being associated with them isn’t great for your credibility.
The converse of this is also true, however. Google might not care about low-quality links, but it’s placing more emphasis than ever on targeted links from high-profile websites. So, if you can get one of those (provided it’s relevant to your industry or topic) it can have a big effect on your search visibility. We can help.
Google is warning businesses to be more careful about the company we keep, and its approach to calculating the value of inbound links reflects that.
