What Is an RSS Feed?
by Patra cardinal
lucid crew, Art Director

RSS feeds distribute the content of your website to other users in formats that can be personalized and customized to the user’s preferences. The idea is to get a wider distribution for your web content and encourage readers to click through to your own site. You can distribute articles, video, product descriptions, sales announcements, and more via RSS.

Promote your RSS by linking to it in a prominent place throughout your website. Link to it in the signature section of your forum member profiles. Increase visibility and subscribers by featuring a Subscribe button on your home page—be sure to make it visible without scrolling down.  In addition, register your feed with RSS directories and search engines to give it wider online availability.

Bear in mind that when they click on an RSS button, many users will see the XML code they’ll need to copy into the RSS readers they use. Some users may not know how to do this, so it can help to offer a page with an explanation of what RSS is and how it works, easy-to-understand instructions, and suggestions for free RSS aggregators.

If you are a MediaStove client, your RSS Feed url is http://YOURSITE.COM/rss . For example: http://www.lucidcrew.com/rss

New type of Spoof email.
There is a new email spam going around from domain registration sites. It will ask you to update your domain. Be careful - they realy want you to transfer over the domain name to them. Contact us if you receive a suspocious email about renewing your domain.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Catching a Content Thief
Finding those that steal your content is easy. Copy and paste a sentence from your site into Google for a search. Your copy is unique - by examining the site if there are other phrases that have clearly copied from your site - you have caught the thief. Now - find the owner of the site and kindly ask them remove the content. If they do not comply - perhaps a Cease and Desist will do the trick. Here is a sample letter.
