What is a Widget?
by Patra cardinal
lucid crew, Art Director

A widget is a piece of self-contained code that is embedded right on a website that opens up a doorway to a larger application or specific information to the user. The widget can be fun and functional. It can provide information such as stock quotes and news, search boxes for Google, eBay, clocks, counters, games, feeds a more. It can also provide personal information to the person's whereabouts, latest thoughts and accomplishments.

We've realized the value of latest up-to-date information being streamed to a webiste and have implemented and host of new enhancement tools. MediaStove has incorporated a lot of trendy widgets such; article feeds, local article links feeds, calendar feeds, search box, video feeds. Our latest widgets are Twitter feeds and Google AdSense.

twitter
“Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?” - as Twitter describes themselves.

google

Google AdSense is ideal for informational pages within a website and not the home page. Ad sense would only direct traffic away from a site. Not the ideal situation to gain clients. But if there is an internal page for that prime way to make a few extra bucks a month.

Latest Brag

Kens TV

We got a call at 9 pm one night from KensTV… requesting a site design with a fast turnaround. It was a tall order – and we were happy to oblige.

They requested suggestions on a layout that was easy to use for all ages and demographics, that was fun and attractive, but not “heavy on the graphics”.

We delivered a user-friendly, streamlined layout site that conforms to current web best practices. More importantly, we made sure that all of the information was well organized and easy to find. Guess this just goes to show it pays to answer the phone after hours!

The first image is the originally proposed design; the second is the site as it was implemented.

Oscar Davila

oscar davila

Oscar is our Account Manager Extraordinaire, the guy who makes sure our most important accounts (that’s you) get the best service ever. He’s got a background in IT recruiting, design and writing—so no matter what phase of your project we’re on, he knows the drill. Oh, and for those bilingual clients out there—he is brushing up on his Spanish.
When not working, he can be found running with the bulls in Pamplona. We’re not sure whether he’s also fluent in Cattle. We’ll ask.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Mother Rhythm
MotherRhythm Drums and Imports needed a new online venue that could bring their collection of professional percussion instruments to a wider audience. They needed better product displays, less static content, and ways to keep in touch with customers with a blog, regular coupons, and a more professional layout.

KidVenture
KidVenture needed to update their site with multiple camping schedules during the summer time. They did not want to hire and go add the extra expenses to hire technical people to update their site. They wanted a easy system that many people could update.
