Ok your site is finally done and live to the public. One way a site can get more visits or 'traffic' is if it ranks higher in a search engine. Lucid Crew or any web developer can can only do so much - there are many things you can do to maintain higher ranking. These days, it’s more then just the meta tags that will help you.

What is SEO?
SEO or Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. --Wikipedias definition

Top 7 ways to rank higher in a search engine
1. Ensure the site is well design and developed with the latest programming to be 'rank' and google friendly. If you have a MediaStove site - you are using CSS and xhtml that is verified and using the latest technology that is more then likely going to rank you higher in Google then any other type of programming like using tables, frames, or a flash site.

2. Avoid too many links going away from your site on the home page. Have these outside links on interior pages of your website.

3. Using key words on the home page relating to your business is vital! If you are selling 'Bikes', ensure to use key words in the content that would use other words describing a bike - for instance 'bicycle'. From there use other key words and location words where your business is located.

4.Let other sites link to you if possible. Google prefers links going to your site but not from your site. Get on forums or other types of flat forms to promote your business with a link to your site.

5. Meta Words and Meta description. These use to be the number one way to get ranked in a search engine. This no longer applies since there are other and better ways to get ranked higher. That is why this is number 5 on our list.

6. Get traffic to you site. The more visits the site receives the higher the ranking you will receive.

7. Accurate page naming convention. When titling a page have the page name be unique and specific to the business. Do not use any type of page number system.

Tips to maintain a higher rank in Google
Update, update, update. Google loves sites that have new content and are updated frequently. You are more then likely going to stay higher ranked when maintaining your site then a static site with no new content.
